Excellence in Our Classrooms

This winter, Maryland EXCELS observed three of our preschool classrooms and recently shared their findings. Observers praised the positive relationships between teachers and students, the high level of engagement, and the intentional opportunities for learning throughout the day.

One classroom was described as a “well-oiled machine,” while another was recognized for creating an environment where children felt comfortable taking both emotional and academic risks. These results affirm our commitment to providing exceptional early childhood education and reflect the dedication of our outstanding teachers.

Celebrating History, Leadership, and Service

Last week, TLS hosted our first-ever Historically Black College and University (HBCU) and Divine Nine Greek Day. Through presentations, performances, and conversations with guest speakers, students learned about the history, impact, and traditions of these important institutions and organizations.

TLS teachers who attended an HBCU proudly wore apparel from their alma maters and Greek organizations. It was an inspiring day celebrating scholarship, leadership, and community service—and one we hope to make an annual tradition!

A Dream Years in the Making

This Friday, we will celebrate a milestone that once existed only as a dream: the graduation of our first-ever 4th grade class.

To start our week of celebration, on Monday, our school community gathered for a special prayer service that celebrated the many gifts and talents of our students. The second-grade class sang a moving rendition of One Bread, One Body, fourth-grader Tru offered a beautiful dance, and our fourth-grade students lifted our spirits with a joyful performance of I Smile. Ms. Williams also guided us through an Examen reflection, creating a meaningful opportunity for gratitude and prayer.

The fourth-grade class will continue to have meaningful and fun moments of gathering as they prepare to cross the stage and walk toward their next educational chapter. Some have been part of the TLS family since they were just two years old. This inaugural graduating class represents the fulfillment of Father Watters’ vision for The Loyola School, and we could not be more proud.
