The Loyola School (TLS) is a preschool and elementary school focused on early childhood education, rooted in a Catholic Jesuit tradition of personal care, learning, and spiritual growth. TLS addresses the holistic development of children: physical, emotional, cognitive, creative, social, behavioral, and spiritual.
The Curriculum Coordinator (CC) is seen as a vital member of the team at TLS in their provision of academic support to students and families, as well as consultation and partnership with the staff at TLS. Under the supervision of the Director and Principal, the CC will support and work collaboratively with classroom teachers to drive student outcomes, including, but not limited to: provide classroom leadership, develop and lead small-group and one-on-one activities, assess student developmental growth/progress and make recommendations, and communicate well and partner with families.
The CC is a 12-month, full-time, exempt employee with generous leave in the form of paid leave and school breaks. The responsibilities in this job description are not meant to be all-inclusive, and it is understood that the CC will perform all other duties as required by the Director and Principal.
Essential Duties:
- Being a resource to preschool and elementary teachers in curricula development, implementation and evaluation
- Planning and conducting training for teachers and other instructional staff, along with the Preschool Director and Elementary Principal
- Overseeing the implementation and interpretation of standardized developmental and achievement assessments
- Assessing with classroom teachers’ student-learning outcomes through a range of strategies
- Supporting a culturally responsive and equity-centered learning environment for students and families, with particular attention to the needs of low-income and BIPOC communities
- Demonstrating best practices in early childhood and elementary education
- Creating supportive learning environments
- Modifying curriculum and teaching academic/life skills to students with disabilities,
- Collaborating with homeroom and special area teachers
- Tracking student progress through data collection
- Helping to plan and implement the summer learning experiences for all students
- Being a member of the Student Support Team
- Participating as a full-time staff member in all school activities, including activities that are required for all staff that may fall outside the bounds of the school day
- Participating fully in school-based and network-wide professional development to hone instructional practice and develop expertise across content areas
- Demonstrating strong organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, an ability to meet deadlines, prioritize effectively, and independently manage time wisely
- Willing to commit passionately to TLS’s mission, values, and educational model, and demonstrate a deep commitment to empowering children and families of slender means to close historic achievement gaps
- This position reports to the Director and Principal
- Experience/Education/Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or advanced degree in field of Education
- Classroom experience
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and management skills
Salary Range:
$60,000-$70,000
